Sierra McFeeters of Indigenous Roots Institute (www.indigenousrootsinstitute.com) in Woodbury will lead a workshop on Empowerment through the Medicine Wheel As a small child my great grandmother and father took me out into nature and taught me to love and respect this world. My father taught me that God was in the trees, the wind, the grasses. As a young girl I sat with that same great grandmother as she made her way painfully from this world to the next. In this process she taught me to be silent witness, to observe and to allow and feel energy. In this way, she guided and prepared me to be comfortable with transitional and transformational thresholds. This path has led me from childbirth educator to midwife to Lightwork Energy Therapy to Reiki and then finally back to my roots as Shamanic practitioner. In 2010 my Abenaki grandmother gave me the great honor of being a pipe carrier. I've traveled to Peru to work with a Shaman and was in an Abenaki medicine lodge for over seven years. I have apprenticed and been initiated by South American and North American Shaman, and most importantly by life itself. I bring great understanding, compassion and trust to the healing process and individual. In this workshop , participants will be guided on a sacred journey through the Northeast Woodland Medicine Wheel, with the intention of discovering and reconnecting with personal powers of each direction. Sasha McGarvey ([email protected]) of Deep Well Herbal Clinic and Apothecary in Hardwick will lead a workshop on Herbal Support for Seasonal Allergies Come learn about herbal support for seasonal allergies. Judy will share some suggestions to use to keep your time relaxed and aware so you can enjoy your time outside. Homeopathy and essential oils are allys she uses to stay healthy and treat conditions that arise when she and her family are sick. Judy Jarvis is a Homeopathic practitioner whose love of plants and smells lead her to study essential oils with Acupuncturists who view essential oils through the dynamic lens of the elements, fire, earth, metal, water and wood. Dear Friends ~
Please tell EVERY TEENAGER YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS. Since December a team of organizers, activists, farmers, and artists have been planning a week-long camp for teenagers aged 13-19. The dates are August 6-12, and the camp is taking place amid our friends' gorgeous 600-acres of forests and hills at the Wheelock Mountain Farm. Now our website, our donation page, and our application are all ready to go, so please help us get the word out! Here's the link to Uprise! Youth Activism Camp. You can pass it along to the young people you know (and all their friends!). If you aren't a teen but would like to get involved feel free to donate or volunteer, and please get in touch. Thanks so much, Henry Camp Coordinator 917 922 5430 [email protected] We'd love if you could join us for our Annual Community Potluck and Sugarhouse Brunch on Sunday, March 26th, 2017 from 11am to 2pm. There will also be a special music performance by "Farm Song" (see the details below the flyer). Please note that the Sugarhouse is rustic. It is located 1/2 mile up a Class IV road and may not be accessible to all. Please contact us for more information and remember to dress for the weather!! Farm Song will present a short concert of songs about love, green trees, and birds at the Wheelock Mountain Farm Annual Sugarhouse Brunch. Farm Song is a group of farmers, homesteaders, and friends who love to sing. As long as people have been farming, they have been singing: harvest and planting songs, songs to influence the weather, songs about or for livestock, songs to bless trees and animals, ritual songs to be sung at solstices, equinoxes and other auspicious times of year. Maria Schumann, Kristin Urie, Jeff Fellinger and Emily Gletsos have been singing together in various formations for over 10 years. They've sung in cheese caves and barns, apple orchards and pastures, for people and for sheep, cows, and apple trees. They hope their songs will make the sap run, sweeten the maple syrup, and bring spring on (but not too fast!)
Thanks to the love and hard work of our community of neighbors, comrades and friends, Wheelock Mountain Farm has a beautiful new sauna! Check out the pictures! And find some time to come check it out in person too!!! Your mind, body, and soul will thank you!
Hello Friends! This Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 at 6:30pm is Wheelock Mountain Farm's last Community Potluck of the summer!
This month, join us at 5pm, prior to the potluck, for a gentle walk into the past lead by local historians Joan Alexander and Nancy Hill. We will start at Wheelock Mountain Farm and walk up the road visiting old cellar holes and an old cemetery in the woods. These were once part of the busy settlement of West Wheelock. Learn about the families who once lived there and imagine what life might have been like in the area many years ago. The walk will finish back at Wheelock Mountain Farm around 6:30pm at which point we will commence our last potluck of the summer! Contact us at [email protected] with any questions! Hope to see you soon! Our Second Tuesday of the Month Community Potlucks will resume on May 10th at 6pm and continue throughout the summer. This year, each potluck will be based upon a theme, and because we are in the midst of such a great maple syrup season, we've decided to make the theme of May's Potluck that sweet, sticky bounty of the forest we love so much--Maple Syrup!! We'll have our canner going, so that you can bring your own containers to can our delicious syrup into at a discounted price!! And remember, all proceeds of Wheelock Mountain Farm Maple Syrup support the educational, land stewardship, and community empowerment programming we offer every year!
It was a blast to have over 75 people out to our Sugarhouse Brunch, and it'd be great to see you all again on May 10th!! Be sure to save the subsequent Potluck dates as well: June 14th, July 12th, August 9th and September 13th. |
